Work

I'm building out the engineering side of Tilt, a legal-tech product based in Sydney. Most of my week goes into the billing and matter domains — Effect services, a Postgres event log, and a TanStack-Start-fronted admin app. The interesting problem this month is migrating the matter aggregate off a denormalised read model without taking the dashboard down.

Reading

Working through Donald Mackenzie's An Engine, Not a Camera for the second time, alongside Tyler Cowen's blog archive on the side. On the technical shelf: re-reading the Effect docs as v4 settles, and slowly chewing through Martin Kleppmann's research papers on CRDTs.

Tinkering

This site, mostly. Token-first design system in packages/ui, file-based routes in apps/web. Also poking at a small CLI in Bun that diffs my local Linear graph against the company's project tree, because the Linear UI doesn't surface the shape I want.

Where

Sydney — Surry Hills end of town. Working from a desk that gets afternoon sun, a couple of mornings a week from a co-working spot in Redfern when I want the change of context.
